IP RATING
The IP (International/Ingression Protection) Code is made up of the initials IP, two integers, and an arbitrary optional letter. The IEC 60529 standard classifies solid objects dust, accidental contact, and moisture in electric boxes. The goal is to give consumers information that is more specific than marketing phrases like "waterproof".
The first integer indicates enclosure protection against hazardous things and solid foreign objects. The first integer indicates the level of protection (for humans) against moving components as well as the level of protection (for enclosed equipment) against foreign substances. In contrast, the second digit shows the safety of enclosed equipment against hazardous water infiltration. It specifies the degree of moisture protection the enclosure receives (drips, sprays, submersion etc.).
To better comprehend how IP65 and IP68 function, how they vary, and when to use one over the other, we will first describe the significance of each digit before moving on.
IP65 vs IP68
IP65
It might be regarded as the minimal need for the harsh conditions. It may be used in a variety of ways, including:
- indoor/outdoor
- wash down process
- hygiene/sanitation process
- coastal applications
- lightning
- meters and gauges for industrial use
It is suitable for many different products, such as:
- Electrical stepper motors
- Light Fixtures
- Industrial Monitors
- Outdoor sensor and motion controllers
- Medical PCs
- Keypads
- Balances and Scales
IP68
Extreme circumstances necessitating both routine and extended ingress protection may require its use. It has various applications, including:
- indoor/outdoor
- military field equipment
- automotive production
- machine building
- shipping and marine applications
- aerospace equipment.
It is suitable for many different products, such as:
- Water Proof Outdoor Products
- PCs & Monitors
- Panel Switches
- Pilot Devices
- Cables, Connectors & Adapters
- Control Units & Indication Lights
- Motors of various kinds
